Each year thousands of visitors come to Barkerville to experience North America's largest heritage and historical site which has been maintained and restored from its original beginning in 1862 when gold was first discovered in the region. It is a great destination for the entire family and you can easily spend a few days here in order to take everything in. Most visitors drive to Barkerville and many pull their own camper or arrive with an RV. However some visitors elect to save time and fly charter flights into the local Barkerville Airport. There are no commercial flights serving this town and the airport is limited to the types of aircraft that can use the runway since it only 2700 feet in length.
Another option that many visitors choose is to fly commercial into Prince George which is served by Air Canada and WestJet and is the closest commercial airport. Once in Prince George they can take a rental car south on hwy 97 to Quesnel then east on Hwy 26 to Barkerville. This drive usually takes about 2.5 hours depending on weather and hwy conditions.
